Paudene Alexander, 95, was born on December 2, 1922 in Paint Rock, Texas to A.J. and Joella Boswell Paudene Hall. She passed away peacefully at her home in San Angelo. In youth, she tap-danced, played piano and tennis, and graduated early from high school. She later earned her degree from Draughon's Business College in Abilene.
Paudene married Joe Vic Alexander, wartime U.S. Army Sergeant, on July 26, 1942 in Paint Rock and served alongside him as secretary in military base camps across the U.S. When Joe completed his service, she supported him in ranching, equestrian consulting, and home management for 74 years as very best friends. Marked by devotion, keen wisdom, humor, and humility- Paudene gardened, cooked, befriended, and nurtured with class. She rose to the occasion.
Paudene was preceded in death by her parents and brother A.J. Hall, Jr., and her husband Joe. She is treasured and survived by three wonderful daughters, Jo Royce (Reese), Donna Louise (Hart), and Collene Alexander; grandchildren Joel A. Reese and wife Aprill, Julie A. Reese and husband Erik Salwen, and James A. Reese and wife Mandy; great-grandchildren Rebecca, Jessica, Hannah, A.J., Lauren Jo, Natalie, Kuranda, Johnny, Lizzy, Brooklynn, and Jordan; and great-great-grandchild Jaxon.
The family gives special thanks to the Kindred Hospice staff, including Gretel, Cleo, and Sam, for their ongoing care for both Paudene and Joe. So very blessed to be with their team again.
A graveside service celebrating Paudene's life will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, September 5, at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
