With great sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of our brother Oliver “Oli” Gomez on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 61. Oli was born on July 3, 1960, in Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico. He grew up in San Angelo, Texas, attending Edison Jr. high. Oli moved to Dallas, Texas, during his high school years, where he graduated from Seagoville High School. He later attended College towards his degree in engineering. Eventually, he returned to San Angelo, where he worked at Ethicon from October 1991 to May 2021, when he retired as a Class A Mechanic.
Oli enjoyed hunting, fishing, sitting around a campfire, and playing golf. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M Aggies. He was also known to participate in charity work and fundraising, where he helped with one of his other passions of cooking barbeque for events. But mostly, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Most recently, he was known to enjoy his time with friends at his favorite spot, Blaine’s Pub. He was likely to have been found there with his many wonderful friends that kept him company while watching games.
His father, Jose O. Gomez, niece Jennifer L. Zuniga, nephew Steven Alexander Torres, and grandparents preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Olga Gomez; Brothers, Robert Gomez (wife Rose Gomez), Juan Gomez (wife Diane Gomez), Sisters Carmen Zuniga (husband Tomas Zuniga), Mary Rivera (husband Rick Rivera), Dora Flores (husband Juan Flores) and many nieces and nephews.
We want to express warm and heartfelt thank you to our cousin Juan Carlos Diaz and wife Martha Diaz, Blaine’s Pub Co., and his many wonderful and generous friends, you are forever in our hearts.
