She was born on December 6, 1933 in Sidney, Texas to Buster and Ellie Tanner. Nelda attended Odessa High School (OHS) and graduated in the class of 1952.
Nelda married Marks Marcum in July of 1953 and the couple had two children. She had a passion for arts, crafts, and decorating, and will always be remembered for her Christmas Eve family gatherings and summertime pool parties.
Nelda was preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 52 years, Marks Marcum; brother, Jerry Tanner, and sister-in-law, Betty Tanner.
Left to cherish Nelda’s memory are her sons, Carl Marcum, and Paul Marcum and wife Kelley; grandsons, Ryan Marcum and Dane Marcum and their mother, Cheri; sister, Sue Fore; nieces, Tracy Milner, Glenda Wentworth, and Stephanie Fore; nephews, David Tanner, Jason Tanner, and Eric Tanner.
Nelda also leaves behind life-long OHS friends, Betty Sue Koonce, Shirley Roebuck, Maurice Turner, Shirley Bowen, Billie Brown; and dear caring friend, Amber Harkleroad.
Visitation for Nelda will be held on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11AM on Monday February 24, 2025 at Fairmount Cemetery, 1120 W Ave N, San Angelo with Pastor Bobby Roger officiating.
