Natividad (Tenny) Arredondo, Jr., was called home on Sunday, December 13, 2020, in San Angelo Texas; 17 days shy of his 78th birthday! He was born on December 30, 1942 in Sonora, Texas and was raised with five sisters. He lived and worked in Sonora, until his retirement in 2004, when he moved to San Angelo.
He loved to cook and in his younger years worked for the Gulf Restaurant and the Sutton County Steakhouse. He worked the oilfield for several years. He owned and operated Arredondo Grocery, where his barbacoa and menudo were sell outs every weekend. And in 2004, after 25 years of service he retired from the Sutton County Road and Bridge Department, where he worked maintaining county roads.
He had a passion and love for music and had a great voice. His favorite was Mariachi and canciones rancheras! He loved to sing and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. If there was a family party – there was always singing going on!
His other love was boxing! As a young man, he aspired to become a boxer and had the talent. But it was not meant to be. He was a true athlete and loved to and continued to work out until the end. He loved to watch boxing and loved Muhammad Ali. He was always ready for a boxing match and loved keeping up and talking about boxing!
He is described by many as a kind, fun loving, and easy going man. He was always happy, pushed himself to the very end and leaves us with many happy memories!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Natividad Arredondo, Sr., and Esperanza Arredondo and a grandson Daniel Ray Arredondo. And survived by his wife Estella, daughters Clara (Terry) Lemons, Gladys (Robert) Noriega, sons George Arredondo and Tenny Ray Arredondo, grandchildren Michele (Garrett) Eison, and Dominic Arredondo and great-grandchildren Case and Gibson Eison, his sisters Amparo (Mike)Villanueva, Sylvia Gonzales, Yolanda (Victor) Fuentes, Diana (Omero) Gonzales, Betty (Sam David) Hernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the family he inherited, his stepchildren Pete (Diana) Holguin, Vicky Casarez, Ruben Holguin and Soyla Wozniak, 15 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. And he will surely be missed by his Chihuahua Camila!
A special heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Shannon Hospital who took great care of him and were so kind and considerate to the family during this most difficult time.
A public visitation will take place on Thursday, December 17th, 10a-12pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, followed with a graveside service at 2p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
