After attending school in San Angelo, he married his wife, Linda Lyons. A brief time in the military was followed by a decision to settle in Abilene, Texas where he went to work in Human Resources for Gooch Packing Company. After many years there, and raising a family, he decided to open an art gallery, the Hawk Moon Gallery, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. But the call of his home town was simply too much, and he returned with Linda to San Angelo in 1996, where he settled into several jobs that he loved before retiring in 2015.
An avid lover of the outdoors and woodworking, he also was deeply committed to Community Hills Christian Church, where he served on many committees over the years.
Mike is survived by his children, Quinton and Rebekah, and grandchildren, Georgia and Mason. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edith, his brother Donald, and his wife, Linda.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Community Hills Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
