Maria M. Leyva Garcia, 88, of San Angelo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her residence surrounded by his loving family. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service will be Frank Villarreal, Rudy Villarreal, Jr., Sergio Balderas, Jonas Villarreal, Daniel Asebedo and Jorge Luis Villarreal. Maria was born on Jan. 25, 1925, in Jimenez, Coahuila, Mexico, to Anastacio and Maria del Refugio Leyva. She spent her last days taking care of her husband of 69 years, Marcelo, before his passing. She will be remembered as caring, loving and family oriented. She took care of her many grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved taking care of her many animals and pets. She enjoyed gardening and would spend many hours in her flower beds. She also enjoyed being outside camping. She had such a kind and loving heart that she never turned away anyone in need of a place to stay or anyone who needed something to eat. She was loved by many. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Anastacio and Maria del Refugio Leyva; sons Oscar and Vicente Garcia; brothers Antonio Leyva, David Leyva, Presentacion Leyva and Anastacio Leyva; and sisters Sophia Santellano, Manuela Carvajal and Maria Eugene Leyva. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Esther Villarreal and husband Rodolfo and Eva Balderas and husband Frank; grandkids Frank Villarreal and wife Graciela, Rudy Villarreal and Michelle Hernandez, Araceli Asebedo and husband Daniel, Rosi Carrillo and husband Frank, Sergio Balderas and wife Monica, Estela and husband Miguel Villanueva Jr., Jonas Villarreal and wife Sandra, Martha Villarreal and Jason Gomez, Jorge Balderas and wife Callie, Jorge Luis Villarreal and wife Melanie, Cynthia Petrovich and husband Mike; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Jesus Leyva and Maria del Refugio Villarreal.
