A celebration of Margaret’s life is at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7th in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheree Harris of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Margaret was born on April 10, 1924 in Ackerly, Texas to J.L.W. and Martha J. Burrus Coleman. She was the youngest of eight. She married the love of her life, Skeet Norman, on May 5, 1948 in San Angelo. He passed away in 1987, but they had 39 wonderful years together.
Margaret will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother. For 33 years she worked at GTE as an Accounting Supervisor. She also made sure that she enjoyed life, such as dancing, making her special covered hangers and blankets, traveling, and rooting for her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. In her spare time she would volunteer at San Angelo Community Medical Center, First United Methodist Church, and she would deliver for Meals for the Elderly. And of course after Skeet passed away, she spent time with her traveling companion and close Dallas Cowboys fan, Lois Newman.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings: Luther, Leonard, Vern and Wilbur Coleman, Leona Hughes, Elza Witt, Aletha Neff, and a grandson, Reed Norman. Survivors include her children: Robert and Talya Norman of San Antonio and their son, Rob Norman, Rick Norman of San Angelo, Vicky Jouett and husband Johnny of San Angelo and their son Billy Jouett, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Graham, Dr. Sun, the ICU staff at San Angelo Community Medical Center, and Pam Murphy at Hospice of San Angelo for their loving care of our mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals for the Elderly, First United Methodist Church, and Hospice of San Angelo.
