Lucy Jane Hunt Rogers of San Angelo, TX, succumbed to a struggle with cancer on August 15, 2012. While the disease left its mark on her body, Lucy now lives forever in the peace, joy, and love that is found only in the presence of God. If life can be measured by how special others were made to feel, then Lucy lived a full life exuding warmth, love and acceptance to others. In her final days the most repeated words on her lips to friends and family were, “I love you.” Memorial services will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00AM on Friday, August 17, 2012 followed by a committal service in Rocksprings, Texas.
Born in Rocksprings, TX on January 11, 1942, over the course of her life, Lucy made her home in Hereford, TX as well as in Colorado. She attended San Angelo College and Baylor University. She devoted much of her life to teaching Sunday school and serving in a variety of ministries in the churches she attended. Most recently she was a member of Southland Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX where she participated in the Open Heart Sunday School Class. Her favorite activities included interior decorating, participating in church activities, cooking, entertaining and being with friends.
Of utmost importance to her was her family. She is survived by her daughter Mendy Wandling and her husband Ed Wandling, their children Angie Smith and her husband Captain Robert Smith, Kirstin Wandling and Kathryn Wandling, as well as her son Blair Rogers, his wife Kim Rogers and their children, Lexee and Landon, her sister JoNell Richardson, and sisters-in-law Dianne Rogers and Judy Carmichael. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses including Jac, Brenda, and Seth Cavness; Scott, Mary Ann, & Kelby Cavness; Tom, Courtney, & Arthur Cavness; Dwyane, Bonnie, Celeste, Kaia Grace, & Sofie Anne Rogers; Stephanie & Will Sieckenius, son Khadd Mitchell, his wife Lindsay and their children Karysma, Hunter, & Hudson. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mable Hunt and her parents-in-law Roy and Sadie Rogers as well a brother-in-law, Jerry Rogers, and great niece Chloe Madison Rogers.
Pallbearers for the service will be Dwayne Rogers, Jac Cavness, Scott Cavness, and Tom Cavness.
