

Lee Roy Jones, 67, passed from this life into eternity on May 31, 2013 at his residence following a battle with lung cancer. Lee Roy was born April 3, 1946 in McCamey, TX to Roy L. and Leona Jones. He attended school in Winert, TX. He was saved as an adult and attended the Baptist Church. He attended Texas A&M earning several engineering certificates. He and Linda Landreth married on June 4, 1971 in Rochester, TX. They would have celebrated 42 years together. Lee Roy worked in the oil industry retiring as a salesman for Dowell Schlumberger. Then he became a valuable asset to Merit Energy Company, retiring as Head Foreman. He and Linda lived in Texas, New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma. Lee Roy loved fishing and taking friends and relatives on guided fishing tours. He collected knives and gave them as gifts to each grandchild on special occasions. He liked to grill outdoors and putter around in his workshop. Lee Roy had a wonderful sense of humor and had fun pulling pranks and joking around. Spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite pastime. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Winnie Jernigan of Sanger. Survivors include his wife Linda, son James and wife Cassy of Abilene, grandsons Issac and Dawson. Also grandson Jessie Jones of Tennessee; son Doug and wife Christy, grandchildren Emily, Brett, Fletcher, and Gavin who is due in August; a sister Sue Taylor, her husband Billy Joe of Midland; Bonnie McDonald and husband Marvin of Breckenridge, sister Jackie Parker and husband Woody of Jacksboro. Lee Roy will be missed by his employees, friends Mike, Jim, Rey and Gene and family and especially his grandchildren.
