He is preceeded in death by his parents; brother Conrado Santana; sisters Mercedes Santana and Rosa Santana; daughter-in-law RoseMary Santana.
He developed a passion for soccer at a young age which would lead him to a life in professional soccer. Future travels led him to Cd. Acuna, Coah., Mexico where he would meet his wife, Olga Carrillo. They were married on May 8th, 1965 and shared 47 wonderful years.
He contributed to the construction of Amistad Damn before settling in San Angelo, Texas in 1969 and initiating a career in the maintenance field. He pursued his love of soccer by developing a community soccer league that extended throughout several states. He would later relocate his family to Grand Prairie, Texas where he joined Caro Produce. He retired in 1996 and returned to San Angelo where he took up his second love as an avid fisherman.
He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Comunidad of St. Joseph’s organization.
He is survived by his wife Olga Santana; daughters, Olga Santana and husband Trinidad Sanchez , Lisandra Martinez and husband Julian Martinez; sons, Juan Ubaldo Santana Jr. and wife Cindy Santana, Alejandro Santana and wife Francis Santana; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Celso Santana, Cristina Magdaleno, Carmen Faustino, Everardo Santana and Jose Luis Santana. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
