Jose I. Aguilar, 87, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in his home on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born to the late, Guadalupe Aguilar and Ramona Garza Aguilar on March 20, 1931 in Robstown, Texas. He married Emilia Camarena on July 31, 1960 in San Angelo. Jose retired as a Tech Sergeant after 21 years in the United States Air Force. He then retired again after 20 years with Simmons Cable. He was a devoted member and usher at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart since 1970. Jose was a family man, in every sense of the phrase. His family was his priority and his source of joy. Jose was always smiling and gave with a full heart. Jose enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and building things in his free time. He leaves behind a legacy of honor and love. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Robert Aguilar, Alicia Rosales, and Irma Rosales.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Emilia Aguilar; children, Rosana Armendariz and husband, Robert, Silvia Jara and husband, Ernest, Jaime Aguilar, and Javier Aguilar and wife, Marie; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Beatrice Sandoval and Yolanda Navarro; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a time of visitation following the rosary that begins at 6:30 PM on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Johnson’s Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
