Johnny Eldon Laza went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 29,2016 . A service of celebrating his life will be on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Wall Brethren Church with Rev. Tommy Tallas officiating. Burial will follow in the Mereta Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home. Johnny was born on November 22, 1929 in Rowena, Texas to John Laza and Frances Psencik Laza . Johnny married the Late Dorothy Jean Baird Laza on May 23, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas and enjoyed 58 years of marriage until her passing in 2011. Johnny was a proud member of the armed forces serving four years during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. After his tenure in the air force, Johnny began taking care of the family farm in which he loved until his retirement from farming. Johnny had a passion for serving at his church Wall Brethren, where he served in many capacities from a youth director to an elder. He also loved to fish and enjoyed taking anyone fishing with him that would go. Survivors include his sons, Alan Laza of Miles and Stephen Laza of San Angelo; one sister Evelyn Hejl of San Angelo, TX; sister-in-law Ruth Ann and Barry Reeves of Chattanooga,TN; and nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Jean Baird Laza; parents, John Laza and Frances Psencik Laza, and two brothers, Ben and Edward Laza. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hejl, James Hejl, David Hejl, Benny Holik, Adolph Holik, Harvey Williams, and Gene Gully. Johnny will be open for public visitation on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 1:00PM until closing.
