Jim Earl Kolb, 77, of San Angelo, Texas died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in Ivy Cemetery in Christoval, Texas. He was born July 22, 1935, in Water Valley, Texas to Jesse T. and Eassie Dell Kolb. Jim was the baby in a family of ten children. He was raised and graduated high school in Christoval, Texas. Jim married Maxine East Kolb, on March 10, 1956 in Christoval, Texas. They were blessed with four beautiful children, Wilma, Jimmy, Jesse and Willa. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, as well as a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Jim worked in ranching and in the oilfield for all of his life. He was quite a craftsman. He loved woodworking, and all the tools that went along with that, and he was very proud of the spurs he made for his boys. He loved to play the guitar and sing, play dominoes with his friends and family, and was happiest coyote hunting with his brothers and sons. In later years, Jim and Maxine loved to slip off to the casino whenever they got a chance. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine East Kolb; daughter Wilma Kolb Martin, of San Angelo, Texas; son Jimmy Earl Kolb and wife, Susan, of Crystal City, Texas; son Jesse Melvin Kolb of Pleasanton, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, David Martin and Chasity Martin March of Farmington, New Mexico, Dustin Kolb of Uvalde, Texas and Dillon Kolb of Carrizo Springs, Texas. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, and sister Grace Kolb Conway of Christoval, Texas. Jim was preceded in death by daughter Willa Kolb Walker; son in law David Walker; grandson Wayne Walker; son in law Rick Martin, and two great granddaughters Hope and Faith Martin. He was also predeceased by his parents; brothers William, Howard, Jesse (Junior), Richard (Shorty), and Louis, and by sisters Mary, Loraine, and Mary.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dustin Kolb and Dillon Kolb, and nephews Bill Kolb, Andy Kolb, Floyd Sanders and Walter Robinson. Honorary Pallbearer will be grandson David Martin. Roland McClean and Portis Ribble will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas.
