
Jim was born on February 25, 1936 in San Angelo, Texas to Leo and Mable Willis. Jim grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1954. Once out of high school Mr. Willis attended Texas Tech University where he was a member of Sigma Chi. Jim graduated from Texas Tech and commissioned into the Air Force where he served his country for three years. When Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force he began working for the Texas Railroad Commission where he worked for twenty-five years as an auditor then as a supervisor. Jim married his lifelong friend and love of his life Diana Hill Moritz on March 15, 1996. Jim was active in his later years and being proud of his family’s history he joined the Son’s of the American Revolution, General Society of the War of 1812, Descendents of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge, Son’s of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Military Order of the World Wars, American Legion, and the United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Diana Moritz Willis; mother and father Leo Kenneth and Mable Willis
Mr. Willis is survived by two brothers Leo Kenneth Willis Jr., Lewis Eugene “Gene” Willis and wife Nina; Two Step-Children Debbie Hill Morgan and David Hill; Four Step-Grandchildren Ryan, Zach, Travis and Crystal Morgan; One Niece Michelle Willis Kimple and husband Kreg; One Nephew Lewis Eugene Willis Jr. and wife Crystal; Two Great Nephews Payne and Payton Kimple; One Great Niece Ali Kimple; One Step-Great Nephew Gage Willis; Two Step Great Nieces Danilla and Kristin Willis.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday November 1, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
