Jackie was born to Wesly and Elizabeth Bell on September 30th, 1932. The first years of her life were spent in Antlers, Oklahoma. Her father made his living in the railroad industry and her first home was made from furnished Box Cars. At the age of 15, Jackie met a dashing young man named L.C. Messer. L.C. saw her doing dishes and thought he would like to meet this beautiful young woman.
Jackie was married to L.C. on January 9th 1950 in Pushmataha County Courthouse in Oklahoma. They left Antlers to build a life in San Angelo, Texas. Just 9 months and 4 days later, October 13, 1950, Jackie gave birth to her first child and only son, Terry Steven Messer and 3 beautiful daughters followed, Carol Beth, Kathy Elaine, and then Donna Lanell. At the time of her passing there were a total of 54 members of her family that were directly linked to she and L.C. Each and every one of them knew and felt what it meant to be loved by their Nana.
Jackie started her career in the grocery industry. She worked alongside L.C. After a few years she accepted a position at Ethicon and retired from this company in 1996.
Above all else, Jackie loved and served the lord. She served him in everything she did from the time she was saved in 1950. She prayed daily and lived in service of Jesus Christ our lord. She loved to cook and serve her large family. She would regularly have her family over for meals on Sundays after church and for every holiday. She would often tell stories of her days playing basketball in school. She spent time with her friends playing chicken-foot.
Jackie was a strong, confident, compassionate woman who loved her husband L.C. She was devoted to her family. You could hear and feel her love and passion for them anytime she spoke of the amazing individuals they were each turning out to be. She is sure to be watching over them as they continue to move forward, taking with them the wisdom and love of life Jackie modeled for them and left them with. She was our Matriarch.
We have lost a great woman and she will be missed dearly. Jackie lived in faith and is now with the lord.
She was survived by her husband L.C., her son Terry Messer (and his wife Pat), her daughters Carol (and her husband David Smith), Kathy (and her husband Tony Arhelger) and Donna (and her husband Lee Timms). Her Grandchildren, Timothy Messer, Tracy Scott Messer (Deceased), Terry Stinnett, Jackie Smith, Toby Messer, Steven Arhelger, Marvin Louis Arhelger, Melanie Flores, Courtney Tambunga, Traci Leigh Ann Cardenas and 26 Great Grandchildren.
