Jack Charlton, 82, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 22, 2021. We rejoice in knowing he is once again healthy, happy, and able to hunt, fish, and golf in his eternal home. We know he is keeping heaven entertained with his slow East Texas drawl and corny sayings. "Dern Debbie!" Jack will be missed by his many friends and family. He was extremely kind, and it was easy to see how much he loved the Lord by the way he lived his life. Jack married Debbie on May 5, 1972. They recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Together Jack and Debbie had two children, Rick and Shelly.
Jack was born October 22, 1938, in Omaha Texas, to Jim and Faye Charlton. After graduating from Paul Pewitt High School in Omaha, he moved to San Angelo. Jack worked at Ethicon for 40 years and made many lifelong friends that were like family. Jack had two stepchildren (Darla and Donnie) and one daughter (Jackie) from a previous marriage.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Jack is survived by his wife Debbie of Sherwood, son Rick Charlton (Laura) of Sherwood, daughter Shelly Smith (Scott) of Mertzon. Grandchildren Kendree Perez (Larry), Brydon Clayton (Miley), Mason Clayton, Chance Murdoch, Keaton Murdoch, & Preston Charlton. Three Great-Grandchildren Aubree Rae, Deklan Perez, and Jonesy Clayton. Three Sisters Jennifer, JoAnn, & Jeanette. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Sherwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are his Grandsons.
