Inez Rector Brown Atkins passed away at 84 years old on January 20, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Lubbock, Texas to parents Jesse Lee and Eva Rector. Inez attended Pecos High School and graduated in the class of 1957. Aside from being a mother to her own children, Inez was a mother to many in her career in public school administration, working for Meadow Village Elementary in Northside ISD in San Antonio, Texas and at Brady High School in Brady, Texas. Inez married Aubrey William (Billy) Brown, Jr. on June 8, 1957, and they resided in many locations in the US and abroad with their four children. Inez was a proud member of multiple baptist churches from San Angelo to Corsicana and Robinson, Texas, and she had a passion for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Inez will be remembered for the memories she made of the family through her home videos, photography, and special scrapbooks. She was an amazing cook, and her family members looked forward to her delicious pies and cookies during their family visits and holiday celebrations. She loved to travel, and she visited many destinations both during her time as an Air Force wife and in her retirement years.
She was preceded in death by Aubrey William (Billy) Brown, Jr. (Husband), her parents Jesse Lee and Eva Rector, her sister Eda Mae Shepherd, and her brother Billy Jo Rector. Inez is survived by her current husband Charles Atkins, daughters Melody Trimble of Dumas, Texas, Kathy Chadwick and husband Mike of Liberty, Texas, son Aubrey William (Bill) Brown, III and wife Denice of San Antonio, Texas, and son Steven Brown and wife Pamela of Corpus Christi, Texas. Inez, or Mima as her grandchildren called her, is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Michael Trimble (Yvette), Jeffrey Trimble (Kori), Jaymes Trimble (Emily), Blair Trimble (Brie), Carissa Chadwick, Ryan Chadwick, Tyler Chadwick (Kylie), Kaylee Chadwick, Brittany Johnson (Cody), Kirby Brown (Pat), Cade Brown (Danica), Stephanie Brown, and Bethany Hunton (Tate). Mima is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, including Emmy Trimble, William Trimble, Brady Trimble, AJ Trimble, Olivia Trimble, Kilian Chadwick, Layne Chadwick, Maren Chadwick, Eden Chadwick, Hayes Johnson, Zoe Johnson, Leilani Tamez, and Teddy Hunton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Belmore Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas with interment at Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the Brown family asks that you make a memorial donation in Inez’s name to the American Heart Association.
