Helen Hood Thompson

Helen Hood Thompson of San Angelo passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. She was born on July 19, 1939 in Tyler, TX to Jack and Helen Hood. Helen attended San Angelo High School and graduated in the class of 1957. She later went on to obtain her Nursing Degree from Shannon School of Nursing. She then began her nursing career working for Shannon Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Helen married the love of her life Lawrence Thompson on August 24, 1962 and had 3 children. She was a member of Southgate Church of Christ for many years. Helen will always be remembered for her love and service to the Lord in teaching children’s Bible classes and providing love and care for many that needed assistance. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Helen Hood. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Lawrence Thompson; her brother John Hood; her children Mike Thompson, Stacey Hooper and husband Carey and Steven Thompson and wife Juanita; her grandchildren Katie Thomas and husband CJ, Shelby Woods and husband Cannon, Alyssa Hooper, Connor Hooper and wife Ashlyn, Brennan Hooper and wife Anna, Jonathan Thompson and Meagan Thompson; and her great grandchildren KJ and Tyson Thomas. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Connor Hooper, Carey Hooper, Jonathan Thompson, Max Jenkins, Melvin Thompson and Doyle Carter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Smith, Kenneth Gartman and Jim Harrell.
