Golden Jewel Speer (89) went to meet our Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Golden was born to Johnny Hall and Stella Ann Hall (Steele) in McLeod, TX on October 10, 1927. Life matured Golden quickly as she lost her mother at age 9, and father at 19. She married Donald Ray Speer of McLeod , TX on December 10, 1947. The two attended a small business college before Don joined the USAF in 1951. Golden & Don moved to San Angelo in 1951, and with just a few exceptions for military assignments ( Alaska, Germany, Turkey), settled in San Angelo. While on assignment in Alaska in 1958, to the joyous surprise of EVERYONE ( especially her doctor), Golden & Don celebrated the birth of their son (Steve). In 1961, after having returned to San Angelo, they welcomed another surprise with the birth of their daughter (Dana). Golden’s true calling, her gift, was to be the loving life—partner to Don and the inspirational mother to Dana & Steve. She was fiercely passionate, loving inspirational, and always with an easy, cheerful smile that forever permeates our hearts.
