Geraldine (Geri) Rossy Booth completed her last life experience on June 3, 2011. She was 76 years old. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 13, 1934, Geri was the only child of Emma C. Benyak and John L. Rossy. She lived in Painesville, Ohio until 2002 when she and her husband Robert moved to San Angelo, Texas. Although she traveled all over the United States, it was in Texas that she found a true happiness. She often said the happiest years of her life were those in the Lone Star State.
Early in her career, she worked as an investment banker in Ohio but after three bank mergers, left the banking industry to pursue her true love of floral design. Since moving to San Angelo, she volunteered for the Making Memories cancer fundraiser each year and was active in the Concho Valley Republican Woman’s Club, the Senior Circle Ambassador Board of San Angelo Community Hospital, and the Classy Red Hat Ladies.
Geri was fun-loving, spirited, adventuresome, and would never pass up a bowl of ice cream! She was an avid gardener and her home and gardens were always filled with fresh flowers, plants and vegetables. She loved to travel, shop ‘til you drop, and make decorative crafts, but it was her family that she loved the most. Geri is survived by her husband and best friend of 53 years , Robert V.D. Booth Jr. of San Angelo, Texas; her two devoted children, Lawrence Gage Booth and wife Teresa of Cumming, Georgia ; and daughter Karen Annie Booth Threlkeld and husband, Alan, of San Angelo, Texas. She was also especially close to her cousin, Janet Dopirak, of Canton, Ohio and she loved her special rescue dog and confidant
Daisy more than life itself. In 2007, she also rescued a donkey and named him Francis, whom she cared for each and every day. All who knew Geri knew that Francis was as much a blessing to her as she was to him as she fought a long battle with cancer.
Her nine-year courageous fight against the disease has ended and she is at peace in heaven. The wonderful memories we have of her will live on in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation in her memory to the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, P.O. Box 216, Miles, TX 76861 or online at http://www.donkeyrescue.org. In accordance with Geri’s final wishes there will be no calling hours. Johnson’s Funeral Home is handling her cremation.
