Nick Hoelscher, 69, passed into eternal life Tuesday, April 5, 2011, following a courageous and hard fought battle with Multiple Myeloma. Daddy was born on September 12, 1941 to J.J. (Jake) and Elsie Hoelscher in Olfen, Texas.
After many years helping to farm the home place, he moved to San Angelo. He worked for Western Air Conditioning, United Parcel Service (UPS), and Yellow Freight Lines. He retired in 2001.
He married Patsy A. Spurger on January 15, 1977 and accepted the task of raising and loving four daughters, which he did proudly. ‘Poppy’, as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, was a simple man and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, always good for a story and a laugh. Many times saying, “Don’t let the clothes fool ya.”
He loved his life and lived it to the fullest. Some of his favorite past times were the outdoors, animals, and visiting with family and friends, of which he had many. He was very proud of his heritage. One of his greatest joys was being able to visit the ‘Home land’ Olfen, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest daughter Janet, brother J.A. (Dutch) Hoelscher, and sister Anita Brosig. Survivors include his loving wife and sparring partner of 34 years, Pat Hoelscher; daughters Donna Young and Randall Clinkinbeard, Carla Wright, and Susan and Ben Connally, all of San Angelo, TX; eight grandchildren that were the light of his life, Danielle, Destin, Daycee, Dayleigh and Daxton Connally and Andrew, Ryan, and Taylor Holden-McCarty; brothers Kenneth and wife Delores Hoelscher of San Angelo, TX, Vernon and wife Cornell Hoelscher of Olfen, TX, and Virgil (Pat) Hoelscher of Dallas, TX; numerous sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, along with his beloved animals, Schwatz, Lacy Jo, ZZtop, the Cats, and the Deer.
