George Scott Faulkner, 91, loving father and husband, of San Angelo, went peacefully about midnight into the Father’s presence on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, George and Daisy Gasway Faulkner on January 20, 1927 in Childress, Texas. George married Jackie Hamilton on March 31, 1951 in Abilene, Texas. She passed away on November 26, 2009. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. George began his 42 year career in education (3 in Sweetwater and 39 in San Angelo) as a bus driver and Biology teacher, then principal at Central High School and retiring as an Administrator with SAISD. He was known as a fair, yet friendly man both with the students and staff members he worked with. His “people skills”, logic and integrity were evident in all he did throughout his lifetime. George was a lifelong learner, even having just taken another course at the age of 91. George enjoyed ranching and learning about the horses and cattle he tended to. He was an amazing servant at First Baptist Church for many years, where he was extremely active as well as serving as a Deacon and Lead Usher. His reward will be great. George was a family man, in every sense of the phrase. He married Janet Jordan Vaught on September 17, 2011 in San Angelo. George’s legacy will live on through the many students that he influenced and he will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents (listed above); first wife, Jackie Hamilton Faulkner; and sisters, Mary “Dolly” Crews and Zona Beth Cates.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Vaught Faulkner; daughters, Jackie Lynn Davis and her husband, Dwight, and Georgann Faulkner; Janet’s children, Andrea Irvin and her husband, Chris, Chris Vaught and his wife, Tammy, and Matt Vaught and his wife, Sunday; several grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
