On June 19, 2013, Genoveva “Veva” Gonzales Castillo, 86 of San Angelo, was called by our Savior’s messengers, a host of Angels and La Virgen de Guadalupe, to enter the Kingdom of the Lord.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in San Angelo. Interment will follow at the Mereta-Eola Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Paul Castillo, Robert Castillo, Gilbert Castillo, Mark Hogeda, Danny Castillo and Nathan Hohreiter.
Genoveva was born January 3, 1927 in Millersview, Texas. She attended school in Millersview and on February 3, 1946 married Ygnacio “Nacho” Castillo. Ygnacio and Genoveva shared sixty years of marriage before Nacho was called to enter the Kingdom of Heaven in 2006.
Veva will now enjoy Eternal Rest with her parents Isidro and Jesusita Gonzales, her brother Ricardo Gonzales, and sisters Rosa Castillo and Ester Leal.
From Heaven, Genoveva will forever watch over her family including: Roberto and wife Beatris of San Angelo, Ygnacio Jr. of Garden Grove, CA, Jorge of El Paso and Margarita of San Angelo; grandchildren: Paul and wife Cynthia, Diana, Vanessa, Danny, Jessica, Alyssa, Edward, and Nathan; four great-grandchildren; her loving sisters Betty Hogeda of San Angelo and Carolyn Rendon and spouse Diego of Spicewood, TX; and brother Isidro (“Sonny”) and spouse Julia of Odessa, TX.
The Castillo family extends a special “thank you” to the staff of Odyssey Hospice and in particular to Isabel Melcher for her special care and attention to Genoveva’s transition to a better place. The Ygnacio Castillo family will be forever grateful to all family, friends and neighbors for their prayers and support during these last few months and especially to Veva’s loving and caring sisters, Carolyn and Betty.
While on Earth, Genoveva enjoyed spending time with her sisters, taking walks with friends and neighbors and tending to her flowers and plants. She will forever be remembered by so many as a caring daughter, sister, spouse, mother and grandmother.
We will miss you dearly. We are comforted in knowing that you are finally home, resting in peace with angels.
