Maxine was born march 19, 1934 in Jones County, Texas to Isaiah Eddie Smith and Esther Dye Smith. She grew up between Aspermont and Hamlin, Texas on the family farm and was the youngest of four children. She was a graduate of Hamlin High School. She went on to graduate from Hendricks School of Nursing in Abilene, Texas in 1954 where she earned a degree as a Registered Nurse and proudly pursued a nursing career for many years. She married the love of her life, Eldon Brown, November 7, 1959. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Maxine enjoyed being with her family, taking care of her pets, and all of her plants. She had a great sense of humor and was always there to help when there was a need. Maxine was a proud and loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She loved her family whom she devoted her life to. Maxine was the type of person who never met a stranger and anyone that met her would have a friend forever.
Maxine is survived by her daughter Gale Hethcoat and husband George of Kansas; three sons and their spouses: Tommy and Sherry Hall of San Angelo, Joel and Kristi Hall of Springtown, Texas and Ray and Sheri Brown of San Anelo; grandchildren: Brian and Aly Hethcoat, Eric Hethcoat, Jamie Hall, Joshua Hall, Keely Davis, Hartley Hall, Bryce Hall, Garrett Brown, Jordan Siragusa, Courtney Patterson, and Brittney Bruno; and 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one grandchild, Kara Faith Brown.
Family visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20th at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 21st with Jim Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
