Elnora was born on October 30 1927 in Trenton Missouri to Grover and Izora Hertzog. She was preceded in death by her parents, one older brother, Homer Hertzog, and one older sister Eva Jean Lowrey. Elnora transitioned peacefully, from this earth to heaven, on December 23, 2016.
Elnora lived a full life of eighty-nine years and has some wonderful times to be remembered. She was raised on a mountain in Missouri. At age sixteen, Elnora graduated at the top of (her three student) high school class as valedictorian. At age twenty, Elnora moved to San Angelo Texas, where she later married and began raising her family of three beautiful daughters. Her career in San Angelo included bookkeeping for several firms and as a part-time seamstress. She was a church pianist, played bass guitar in a polka band, loved to dance, cook, sing, garden, and take care of her pet cats. Even though she was involved in so many activities, Elnora always found time to be with her daughters, and attend events for her eight grandchildren. Elnora loved people. She was always kind to strangers and willing to give a helping hand.
Elnora is survived by her daughters; Janice Pennington, and husband Frank of Buda, Texas; Linda Burleson and husband Glen of Salem, Illinois; and Marilyn Goff and husband David of Mansfield, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of her life will take place at a graveside service at Fairmont Cemetery on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 am. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories as well as sign the online guestbook at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home of San Angelo.
