Donald Jackson (Jack) Collins, Sr., passed away on July 26, 2017. He was born on August 21, 1924, in Houston, Texas. He attended schools and lived in Houston with his father, Daniel Jackson, and his mother, Ola Mae Rich. There, he worked at many jobs, including Mosher Steel. In 1945, he married his first wife, Gwendolyn Amelia Norton. They had a son, Donald Jackson Collins, Jr., on October 25, 1949. Jack and his family moved to San Angelo in 1947, where he worked for Ralph Crouch Metal and Angelo Metal Co. Gwendolyn passed away in 1989. On November 9, 1991, he married his second wife, Mary Iola Price Spruell, in the chapel of First Christian Church. He made his home in San Angelo, where he retired. Jack is a past member of Woodmen of the World, and a member of the San Angelo Art Club. He was a life member of San Angelo Amateur Astronomy Club, and a member of the Community Hills Christian Church. Preceding him in death is his first wife, Gwendolyn Collins, and his second wife, Mary Collins. He is survived by his son, Donald Collins, Jr., his stepdaughter, Wanda (Del) Morrissette, his grandchildren Kathleen Apperson, Daniel Collins, Kristi Morrissette Browning, and Cynthia Morrissette Walker, and numerous great-grandchildren. Viewing will begin at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
