Connie Rose Ayers Fondersmith, 62, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 with her husband David Fondersmith. Services will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Knickerbocker Community Cemetery in Knickerbocker, Texas.
Connie was born August 24, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas to Earl Ayers Jr. and Bettye Ayers. She graduated from Angelo State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She married her husband David on December 23, 1971, and they had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They made their home in Menard, Texas for 40 years. Her children are Jennifer Ruff and husband Matt and son, Ryan Fondersmith. She has one grandson, Joseph, and another one due at the end of June. She is survived by her mother Bettye, her siblings Butch Ayers, Judy Gill, and Gary Ayers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie graduated from Angelo State University and taught elementary school in Menard, Texas for over 30 years.
She loved children, her students, teaching, and was passionate about learning more to better help her students.
Connie was a loving wife and mother. She had a compassionate heart and would sacrifice herself, her time, and
resources to help and meet others needs. She was sincere, genuine, loving, smart, and loved to laugh. She loved
to bake cakes, sew, knit, make jewelry, try new crafts, to travel, and be with family. She was the world’s best
grandmother or Nana and cherished her relationship with Joseph. Her death was sudden and leaves a huge hole in
the hearts of those that know and love her. Her legacy and character are strong and will live with those that knew her.
