Clifford A. Grothe, 58, of San Angelo, passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 29, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late, Robert Lee Arthur Grothe, Sr. and Ada Nell Brown Grothe on June 8, 1960 in San Angelo. Clifford married Carmen Gizzi on December 15, 2006 in San Angelo. He was of Christian faith. Clifford believed in working hard. He worked in the oilfields in well services for a number of years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing and keeping bees. Clifford was a serious man, one who left a mark on those he encountered. He will be missed greatly. Clifford is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Carmen Grothe; daughters, Melisa Grothe and wife, Nita of Florida, Amanda Grothe of Florida, Melany Grothe of Georgia, and Monica Grothe Lewellan of Tennessee; grandchildren, Ashea, Zoe, Michael, and Brigette; brothers and spouses, Mark and Pat Grothe, Wayne and LouAnn Grothe, and Robert and Jan Grothe; sisters and their spouses, Stephanie and Rene’ Matz, and Teresa Grothe; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School of Chamberlain, SD or the Defenders of Wildlife.
