Catherine Lucille Moody, 96, went to heaven on January 14, 2021. Kitty as she was known by friends and family. Kitty was born in Rhome, Texas on October 28, 1924 to Walter and Nell English. Kitty was Salutatorian and graduated from Uvalde High School. She is survived by her children, James H. Moody of The Woodlands, Texas; Thomas A. Moody of Brookings, Oregon, and Mary C. Moody of San Angelo, Texas. Kitty has five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Kitty married James I. Moody on August 5th, 1942. They made their home in Del Rio, Texas. They were members of the First Baptist Church there and taught the primaries class for 15 years. She was also the leader of the GA’s there. Kitty had various jobs; cashier, butcher, secretary, bookkeeper, dental assistant, and civil service.
Kitty and James were known as snowbirds as they took their RV to Yuma, Arizona every winter for several years. After James passed away, her daughter, Mary and Kitty traveled with tour groups to Branson, Nashville, California, Smokey Mountains, Washington D.C., etc.
Kitty loved to volunteer. She volunteered at meals for the elderly twice a week in the kitchen and in the sewing room at Baptist Memorial. She was active in her church, First Baptist Church; she sang in the choir, was a member of WMU and taught the 90 year old ladies class.
Kitty was a super seamstress, oil painter, and known for her pecan pies. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church or Neighbors Café. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Shannon Medical Center on 6 North COVID Unit for their loving care.
A memorial service for Kitty will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church. Mary is asking all the ladies to wear a hat in honor of Kitty because she loved to wear hats and dress up.
