Carol was born in Silver City, NM on February 5, 1947 to the late Carl Richard Simpson and Joyce Goodhart. Raised in Albuquerque, NM, Carol later met and married the love of her life, James (Jim) Robert Righetti. They were blessed with two children, Richard and Lauri. Carol and Jim took their family to Kadena AB, Okinawa and George AFB, Victorville, CA before setting roots in Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, TX in 1972. Raising two children there, Carol and the family enjoyed the deep blue waters of Amistad Reservoir on regular outings in the family boat. Carol also enjoyed taking visiting family members to Ciudad Acuna, MX for entertainment and dinner. Over the years and traveling mostly by automobile, Carol and Jim toured 49 states and parts of Canada. She enjoyed many National and State parks, attending Major League Baseball games, and the amazing variety of beautiful sites from coast-to-coast. As a transplanted Texan, Carol supported the Rangers, Astros and Cowboys.
After graduating Nursing School in 1976, Carol worked for many years as a nurse at Del Rio Nursing Home. Her colleagues and residents knew her as a dedicated professional, always willing to help in a kind and generous manner. Following their children’s moves to San Angelo, TX, Carol and Jim relocated here in 2008. Their new life in San Angelo brought new friends and enjoyment of live music at downtown venues. Always displaying a positive attitude and natural curiosity for new experiences, Carol found herself racing alongside Jim in the Big Bend and Roadrunner Open Road Races out of Fort Stockton, TX. There they experienced the thrill of speed, competition, and teamwork together earning a first-place finish in their class in 2007.
Carol is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Jim Righetti of San Angelo, TX; brother Carl (Joyce) Simpson of Albuquerque, NM; son Richard (Kari) Righetti of Flagstaff, AZ; Lauri Righetti Trice of San Angelo, TX; two grandchildren, Kyla Righetti of Brooklyn, NY and Curtis (Mariah) Trice of Hampton, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Grayson Trice of Hampton, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
