He was born on February 22nd, 1929, in Blackwell, TX to Joe Anders Smith of Brown County, Texas & Wilma Audrey Gray of Fort Chadbourne, Coke County, TX. Bobby graduated from Sundown High School & married his high school sweetheart & love of his life, Mildred Louise James "Mama Lou" of Mildred, TX on July 7th, 1946 in Deming, NM.
He loved work & worked hard in the oil field before starting his own company, S&S Cabinet Shop in 1965.
Together, Bob & Lou, had three children; Larry Joe (Barbara) Smith, Karl Lee "Corky" (Stacey) Smith, Karen Gayle (David) Banks all of San Angelo, TX.
He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren & two step-grandchildren; Lisa Marie White of San Antonio, TX, Jeffery Lee Smith of San Angelo, TX, Christina Michele Smith of McKinney, TX, Bobby Jack Watson of San Angelo, TX, Arica Lea Shields of Carrollton, TX, Gary Coleman of San Angelo and Toyha Harper of San Angelo. They had fourteen great-grandchildren & three great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many wonderful friends and family.
He pledged, initiated, & became a Master Mason at Concho Lodge # 1260 in 1955 & became a Brother of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry S.J., USA Suez Shrine Temple of San Angelo, TX in 1973. He was a fun-loving member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a proud member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks San Angelo Lodge # 1880 from 1983-2008.
He had a love of animals & children. He coached his kiddos' little league team, enjoyed spending time square dancing, playing games, traveling, bird watching, fishing, & socializing with friends & family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Wilma, wife, Louise, & brothers, Harold Wayne & Jerry Dail Smith.
Open visitation will be Sunday, January 29th, 2023, from 10am - 8pm at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Monday, January 30th, 2023, at 2:00pm. Serving as pallbearers are Steve Smith, Freddy Montelongo, Danny Hernandez, John Perez, Cliff Prescott, & the Royal Order of Jesters. Officiating, Pastor Bobby Roger.
Reception and family visitations will be held at 4pm at the Suez Shrine Temple located at 2915 W Loop 306 San Angelo, TX 76904.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial donation to a charity of your choice, in Bob's memory.
