He was born in Snyder, Texas on June 7, 1934 to Maxwell & Floye Shipley. He received his high school diploma from Snyder High School in 1952. He married Clovis Pettitt on October 6, 1955 in Snyder, Texas.
His lifelong profession was in the oil & gas pipeline business where he eventually retired from Transwestern-Enron after 30 years. Because of his career he resided in Kermit, Odessa, Houston, and Roswell, New Mexico. His desire to walk in faith with The Lord led him to become a worshipful master with the Kermit Masonic Lodge, member of various churches throughout his lifetime with his current membership at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, was an avid golfer, and loved attending Permian football games. Above all else he enjoyed doing these things with his family. The family best remembers him the most for not only his quick witted sense of humor and hilarious stories but especially for the love and passion he had for them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Floye Shipley; a grandson, Brandon Lee Shipley.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clovis Shipley; his son Terry Shipley & wife Debra of Lubbock; his daughter Cheere Behrendt & husband Brad of Burnet; his grandson Justin Shipley & wife Jill of Lubbock; his granddaughter Kali Behrendt of San Angelo; 2 great grandchildren Brandon & Brylee Shipley of Lubbock; a brother JW Shipley of Midland, and numerous other extended family members and friends.
