Ausencio "Chon" Valdez Alonzo

On Wednesday March 1, 2023, Auscencio “Chon” Valdez Alonzo, 94, of San Angelo, Texas completed his journey and went to be with his wife, Betty Wuertenburg Alonzo, of 66 years who awaited him at heavens gates. The world became brighter when Chon was born on May 15, 1928 to Enrique and Esther Alonzo. He lived a full and warm life filled with kindness caring for family, friends, and animals alike.

Chon is survived by his son David and wife Martha Alonzo and his daughter Beatrice and husband Rudolph Mussmann; grandchildren Melissa Luna, Monica and husband Allen Bjerke Jr., David and wife Angela Alonzo, Michael Luna and fiancé Karen Canales, Dominica and husband Robert Lee, Melinda Luna, Debbie and husband Dishaun Hart, Marisa and husband Justin Behan, Raymond and wife Vivian Martinez, Crystal Martinez and Korina Urias, and 26 great -grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Johnson's Funeral Home. A celebration of Chon's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
