Reid graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. He served in the Army during WWII and spent most of his time in Italy and Germany. After WWII he came home and married the love of his life, Norma Marie Christensen on May 7, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He sold his car to finance his home of 63 years that he and Norma built and where they raised their family. He enjoyed the outdoors and built a cabin as a family project, which was a source of fond family memories. He loved scouting and was an Eagle Scout and a Scoutmaster for many years, enjoying outings with his sons, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing and hunting. He quietly spent his time in service of those in need and enjoyed the successes of others.
His passion was organization, he knew where everything was and his career gave him the opportunity to get paid to do what he loved. He was a pro at homemade ice cream (green with pineapple) and each child took their turn on the crank handle.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and he blessed each of their lives with his unconditional love, support and service. He will be greatly missed, but know he is happily reunited with his beloved Norma after a 21 year absence.
Reid is survived by his children Roger, Douglas (Nancy), David, Steve (Stephanie) and Jeff; 16 grandchildren, 2 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers Gene (Dot, dec.) and Jim (Ethyl). Preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents, Thomas Peter Hansen and Grace Irene Taufer; brothers Roy (Joan) and Glen and sister Ellen (Raymond) Hogan.
Reid has enjoyed his many friends while living at Olympus Ranch Retirement Community for the past two years.
