Our mother was loved by many and lived a full life, giving so much of herself to others. Ruth was born
in a taxi cab near Mendon, Utah, on March 8, 1930, raised by her doting parents in Ogden, Utah and
passed away on May 5, 2016, in Provo, Utah. The past nine years she has fought a valiant battle with
Alzheimer's disease and, even faced with the devastating effects, she ever strived to serve those around
her. We are grateful that she is now free and able to remember all that she has lived and loved
throughout her life, including her cherished family, many friends and those others she served with
tireless effort as Relief Society president, Primary president, water-ski instructor and boat driver, oil
painter, entertainer, seamstress, knitter, florist, and anything else she set her mind to do.
Ruth broke the bonds of her mortal existence and we know she is now enjoying a glorious reunion
with her beloved parents Wade Adelbert and Sarah Esther Ramsden Hampton, her eternal companion
Boyd Wallace Strong, her three sisters Belva, Lavon, and Arlene, her son-in-law LeeR Lambert, and many
spoiled furry friends. She is survived by her three daughters Karen Lambert Barnes (Douglas), Diane
Ekins, and Tiffani Smith (Timothy); 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Carolyn
Strong; and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who adore her. We know she will
especially miss her dear friend, Bonnie Plant.
Ruth’s family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9 at the
Grandeur Peak Ward located at 3640 E. Millstream Road (3510 South) followed by a memorial service at
noon. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn (3401 Highland Drive). The family expresses their grateful
appreciation to the supportive members of Mom's wards and to the loving caretakers at Courtyard at
Jamestown and ComfortWorx Hospice. Thank you all for sharing in our sadness and our joy during
Mom’s journey home. In lieu of flowers and for the benefit of Ruth’s posterity, please post your personal
stories, pictures, and remembrances on FamilySearch.org ID# LFX2-XFX.
