Que Erven Christensen (Mabe) passed away October 27, 2018 in Houston, Texas at his daughter’s home. He was born December 1, 1921 in Redmond, Utah to Erven and Annetta Christensen. He was the oldest of four siblings and spent his childhood in the Redmond area.
Que was part of The Greatest Generation, serving his country as a U.S. Navy Pharmacist Mate First Class in the Pacific during World War II. He enlisted after Pearl Harbor and served through the end of the war. Participated in the Battles of Tarawa and Tinian.
After being discharged from the Navy, Que became a professional interior and exterior painter/ wall paperer. Married Vernice May June 20, 1947. They lived and raised three children in East Millcreek, Utah. Joined the Salt Lake County Fire Department and retired as a Captain after 20 years.
Loved riding horses. Every Fall, he would help round up cattle in the Redmond area. Que was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Wallace, and sister, Beula. Survived by his sister Tessie Metcalf; children Keith (Helen) Christensen (St. George, UT), Nancy (Jessie) Montez (Houston, TX), and Ann (David) Vincent (Cottonwood Heights, UT), seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church (2375 E 3300 S, SLC, UT); where friends and family can visit at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
