Our beloved Nellie Irene Larsen passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on March 4, 2013. Born 27 March 1922 in Leland, Utah, Nellie was the youngest and last living child of Christian Larsen Jr. and Nellie Irene Smith. She had two sisters, LeIla and Eunice, and six brothers, Clifton, Arland, David, Orion, Alvie, and Melvin. As a child she lived in Benjamin, Utah then moved to Salt Lake City where she enjoyed attending Forest School, Irving Jr. High and South High School. She worked for W.H. Grew Co. (31 years) and then the L.D.S. Church Financial Department (16 years). As an efficient and trustworthy employee, she retired to care for her sister LeIla-during her later years. On her last day of work Utah Transit Authority honored Nellie with a complimentary ride home and a “lifetime bus pass” for her loyalty riding UTA for “50” years! She actively attended Grant 3rd Ward and spent many years serving in numerous positions. She especially loved working in the Ward Library. Nellie loved to read and play the piano. In her younger years she also played the trumpet and enjoyed dancing. Always dedicated in her love and care for family Nellie was our “Link” to the past as she always made certain there was a Larsen Reunion each year. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family that love her very much! Thanks Ona and Bonnie of Intermountain Home Care for the wonderful help given. Funeral Services will be held Monday March 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Park Ward 495 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah. Viewing is that morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow at Elysian Gardens. Donations may be made to the L.D.S. Missionary Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund. Online condolences may be made to www.wasatchlawn.com
