Our kind, loving, hilarious, often irreverent, guardian, Mark Steven Abbott, reunited with his precious mother and treasured sister, after his courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer, April 9th, 2022.
Mark parted just as he lived most of his life. Hands held by his devoted husband, surrounded by family, dear friends, and fought until the very last piece of the puzzle was in place to ensure those he loved most would be sustained and supported through this next chapter.
Mark was born February 28, 1970 to Barbara Ann Abbott and Stephen Craven Abbott and sister Michelle Ikie Abbott.
Mark was a creative, witty, playful, fun loving, and true innovative soul. Mark was loved by all his family. He was a fierce, fun, and loyal friend. Relationships made with Mark lasted a lifetime. Mark was remarkably talented yet his greatest joy was time spent with his husband, children, family, and friends whether at home, vacationing, creating, or hosting game nights.
Mark was a brilliant floral designer for over 25 years. He and his husband found great joy in the journey to achieving their dream of owning their own floral shop, Every Blooming Thing.
Mark was filled with life and love. He was warm and welcoming. He was a haven for the lost, and a guiding light to those in darkness. He naturally held space for others to safely be themselves, to be loved, supported, and celebrated for who they are.
Mark is survived by his husband Robert Upwall, daughter Hannah Upwall, son Tim Berg, his furry daughters Maggie & Kholi, father Stephen Abbott, nieces Meranda and Nicole, nephew Anthony, childhood friend Jo, his Every Blooming Thing family, and other very dear friends.
A viewing will be held Monday April 18, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cactus and Tropicals, 12252 Draper Gate Drive, Draper, UT 84020.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday April 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT 84106.
