Lynn Folsom Margetts, 97, of Salt Lake City, passed away on June 16, 2013. He was born on March 20, 1916 to John McDonald Margetts and Cacia Folsom Margetts. He married Blanche Anderson on January 11, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 72 years and raised 3 daughters, Carolyn, Barbara and Christy Ann. Lynn was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served throughout his life in many callings, including that of missionary in the Hawaiian Islands, youth leader and Bishop of the Parleys 4th Ward. Lynn loved life and lived his to the fullest. He never met anyone that wasn't a friend and was always willing to help someone in need. He was an honest, sweet and loving man who was dedicated to serving others. He loved his family more than anything and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed entertaining them at the cabin and in his loving home. He has a great sense of humor and could tell stories that would amaze the entire family, especially his grandchildren. He was Co-Owner of Lyrus Corporation with his brother Russ. He was extremely talented in metal fabrication and according to his grandchildren, "My Grandpa can make anything."
He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Wallace, Las Vegas; Barbara (David) Lattin, Salt Lake City and Christy (Nile) Latta, St. Petersburg, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche, his parents, and brothers: Jack, Russ, Phil and sisters Afton, Francis, Rhea and LaVon. We are especially thankful to the staff at Sunrise Senior Center in Holladay for the loving care given to our Dad.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch lawn Mortuary (3401 S. Highland Drive). Friends and family may visit one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund. Condolences may be emailed to www.wasatchlawn.com.
