"MACK"
Age 70, passed away in his sleep on October 8, 2014 at his home in Taylorsville. He was born July 28, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lynn Eugene Mackay and Dorothy Edith Webb. He attended Granite High School. He married Linda E. Allen, his wife of 40 years. He worked for J&M construction and then the Tempest Company for 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was like "a surgeon" with a backhoe. He was a hard worker, a principle he taught all of his children. Dad was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved working in his garden and was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a Marine veteran and spent many years serving the community with the American Legion Post 112 and generously donated to the VA. In his early days he loved to ride his Harley cross country with the motorcycle group the Barons. Dad was a talented artist, mechanic, and craftsman. Survived by his wife, Linda; children Laurice (John) Lake, Kort (Shellie) Mackay, Jenny (Wayne) Olsen; step-daughter Nancy (Dave) Carlson; siblings Melvin (Marcia) Mackay, Lynnette Thurgood; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson Dustin Kort Mackay. A graveside service will be held Tuesday October 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah). In lieu of flowers please donate to the Utah Wounded Warrior Fund.
