George Cornick was born May 5, 1946 and passed away on Oct 20, 2018 after complications related to cancer. He was superseded in death by both parents and a brother and survived by his wife of 44 years and one sister.
George Served his country as a Navy Seal fighting two tours in the jungles of Vietnam. Here he was exposed to Agent Orange causing the cancer that finally took his life. George is actually a casualty of that war. A hero that fought bravely to his last day.
His love for country was only superseded by his love for his wife of 44 years, Deborah Peterson Cornick. Together they built successful business’s. They built their dream home in Murray along to the Cottonwood Creek. George’s meticulous yard won several city awards for its beautifully sculptured landscaped. He loved working in the yard, taking pride in doing everything to perfection. George was a self taught gourmet chef. He loved to cook and when he wasn’t busy at the shop or in his yard, you could find him in his favorite room creating culinary delights and gourmet dishes.
George was known for his Turkey dinners and on Thanksgiving he could be found preparing meals for the homeless and various charities throughout the valley. The Children’s Christmas Tree, was another charity that he supported, donating toys and putting them together so Deborah could get them delivered by Christmas Eve. They sponsored and feed several families throughout the year choosing to remain anonymous.
George loved his Grandmother. Daily he would check on her, helping her with her grocery shopping and keeping the house up. Weekly he would take Grandma on a date to get milkshakes and to spend time together. He was by her side the day she passed .
George loved animals rescuing hundreds of cats , providing for their medical needs and making sure they had food and a warm place when the weather turned cold. You could catch George petting and talking to his shop cats and little Macchiato their rescued dog. He would tell everybody that he had to help them because they are just little.
George was honest, hard working and generous. A devoted husband, and friend. He lead by example and respected everybody and expected others to do the same. George did what he said and said what he did.
We want to thank all those at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the endless hours spent trying to comfort and care for him throughout his battle with cancer. The world has lost one of its hero’s.
