I didn't know Eric, but was a good fried of his mother, Marie.  We shared a lot at Mountview Elementary.  Marie was so proud of both Eric and Ian.  I felt a little closer to Eric, however, because we shared a birthday, July 12.  Marie, my thoughts and love are with you and your family.

I was lucky to have known him.  He is a fine teacher and a courageous man.  Helping students achieve their full potential by turning their challenges into solutions - that's what he is about. I only had Gundo as my teacher for a quarter- for careers- but I've known him for the majority of my life while he worked with my dad at Copper Hills. He was always a kind, caring person. I always looked forward to going to his class, because he genuinely cared about his students and wanted each of them to succeed in the future. I was extremely upset to hear the news of his passing and send my best wishes to his family at this time. He will be missed.

Eric was a great coach and even better man.  He will be missed at both Olympus and throughout the Utah football community.

My third son (Sam) to play for Larry Wall at Bountiful High graduated this year. He played tight end and D-end. We played Olympus, and after the game, while going through the lines shaking hands, Ed pulled my son aside and spent 5 minutes telling Sam how well he played and how much time Olympus spent preparing for him. It meant so much to Sam. And to me.  I loved the regular lunches Rd and I had during his school breaks. He made everyone around him happy. Each of us who knows him is a better person because of it.

Mr. Gunderson was such a huge inspiration to me. He was my drivers ed teacher and if it wasn't for him, and his encouragement, I wouldn't have gained the courage to get behind the wheel, and I wouldn't have been able to overcome my fear of driving. He was also an amazing football coach and I loved hearing all the motivation he had for the team. 

His fun jokes always put a smile on my face and I love that he cared so much about all of his students. There was never a day that I didn't leave his class with a smile. 

Mr. Gunderson, you will be greatly missed.I will keep your family in my prayers, and pray that they will soon be able to be at peace. God needed one of his angels back home. Fly High Mr. Gunderson.

Eric was my second cousin by marriage. I became very close to the " BIG GUY" and deeply considered him as "MY LIL' BRO!" Him & I were either always calling each other on the phone,FaceTime or just messaging back & forth to see how each other is doing along with the family or just talking as well as ranting about who did what (good or bad) on any sports team(i.e. SHARKS,9'ERS,GIANTS,etc.).I will always have a empty space in my heart for him. I will GREATLY miss him. At least I will have "MY LIL' BRO" watching over me. GOOD BYE "LIL' BRO FROM BIG BRO!" I LOVE YOU & I'LL MISS YOU!!!!

I was a friend of Eric's at Brighton High School.  He was such a kind friend with a twinkle in his eye, a big heart, and a great sense of humor.  My love, thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends.  May God wrap his arms around you with peace and comfort.

Gundy - a great guy and friend.  We had many a great battle in church ball and laughing at "Mr. Questions" in college.  We will face off again on the court one day.  Our prayers and hearts go out to your family.

My continued love and prayers go out to the Gunderson family.  It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my good friend, Eric.  He was truly an angel on earth and I will miss him dearly.

Scott (Adamson) and Gundo used to golf together quite a lot in the summers. Scott was telling me that Eric was a sucker for kids selling anything - he just couldn't say "no." Whether it was golf balls or lemonade or whatever, he would buy it. Scott said they would see the kids and pretty soon Gundo would turn the cart their direction. Scott would always say to him, "Here we go again!" A lot of times if the golf balls were especially cool, Eric would send them home to my boys. We will miss him and his friendship so much. There is not a better it kinder man out there.

Heaven gained an excellent man.  Eric, I appreciated your kindness and sense of humor.  Rest in peace my friend.

I can't count how many times Gunner came to my store to buy football cleats and gloves for his players that couldn't afford them, or the all the times we talked football, baseball and our Gart Sports days. Thanks Gunner for all you did for your students, players and me and my son Jake. Every high school football game I attend I will think of you, every Giants game on T.V. I will think of you.

My daughter had Mr. Gunderson as her high school advisor.  I  would meet with him a couple times a year about her progress.  I knew he would do anything to try and help out.  I found him a very caring teacher who wanted the best for his students.  From my point of view my daughter was blessed having him as her advisor. He will be missed.
