She was born May 10, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest and Minnie Mae Bess Coleby. She graduated from South High and the Quish School of Beauty Culture. She married Walter Denton Woffinden on September 14, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a wonderful and happy life together.
She was a classy lady who radiated sunshine and happiness everywhere she went. Everything she touched she made better. She loved being with and taking care of her husband and children. Her hobbies included gardening, arranging flowers, painting, cooking and cleaning up after everybody. She was most content when she was doing something.
She worked as a hair dresser for 27 years. She was particularly fussy about her own hair and looked forward to having it done every week. Her last outing was to the beauty salon.
After raising her children, she worked for the Salt Lake School District as a secretary for 19 years. After retirement, she and Walt spent many years in Mesa, Arizona in the wintertime. She became a pool shark, played games, grew grapefruit, and built friendships that would last her lifetime. Family and friends will remember her for her sassy attitude and witty quips.
She and her mother were baptized together as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when Emily was 15 years old. She was a faithful member and served in many callings. She served for six years as a hostess at the Visitor Centers on Temple Square.
She is survived by her children Sharon (David) Gregory and David (Denise) Woffinden, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
