Jane, as she was known to all of us who loved her, was born on October 10, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John G. and Martha D. Butchereit. She graduated from Murray High School and LDS Business College.
Her first full-time job was at Sweets Candy Company. She then worked at Dinwoody Furniture Company and years later at the Utah Parent Center. She met her future husband, Grant Wiseman at Dinwoody. He was an Upholsterer and did repair work for clients. They shared morning breaks at the U.S. Cafe just down the street. On their first date he drove up in a yellow/gold convertible. He was very industrious and eventually started and owned Foremost Upholstery.
On May 31, 1957, Jane married Grant Wiseman, with the marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jane had a great love and passion for birds, flowers and gardening -- a love reflected in the
29-year companionship of “Sammy,” her white and yellow cockatiel. Jane’s bird lived with her when she moved to the Life Care Center of America for all to enjoy. During her illness, Jane always looked
forward to visits from the many loyal friends she forged throughout her lifetime.
Jane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Relief Society President. She was also able to travel to Europe, Hawaii, and China.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Cheryl Ann (Scott) Christensen and Shelley Wiseman; grandmother to Russell Scott Christensen and Gregory Grant Christensen (Whitney).
Jane is survived by one brother, John Robert Butchereit, and three sisters, Nancy Anderson (J. Max), Carol Butchereit, and Shirley Butchereit, all of the Salt Lake City area, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grant Wiseman and her two younger brothers, Michael David Butchereit and Samuel Richard Butchereit.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 2, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, with a viewing between 6 and 8 p.m., Friday, November 1 and one hour period to the service. Interment will follow at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Jane’s family wishes to acknowledge and thank the doctors, nurses and other staff at the life Care Center of America and the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home, whose care and compassion will never be forgotten.
