Our handsome, smart, loving Dad returned unexpectedly to his Heavenly Father and the love of his life, Christopher Bud Pate on January 11, 2012. What a wonderful reunion! Bud has always been a great athlete, exceptional at every sport. He loved to golf, rain or shine, and was Club Champion at Willowcreek Country Club and Jeremy Ranch. He was honored with 10 Gold Medals from the Olympics at St. George. He was proud of his Royal Scottish heritage, a dedicated genealogist, and meticulous in everything he did. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He adored and was so proud of his wife, children, and dog, Cocoa. His family meant everything to him! His claim to fame was that he made beautiful babies. He served in the Navy for four years on a mine sweeper. He was extremely bright, graduating with a Master’s degree in Geography and taught at the University of Utah. He was a successful Realtor and Mortgage Banker. He had a zest for living, loving, and laughing. A former Mr. Utah, he always stayed in great shape. He will always be a huge part of our lives until we meet again, one sweet day. “We love you, Dad, give Chris a kiss and hug for us”!
Survived by his beloved wife, Joan; children, Troy (Stephanie), Teresa, Tamara (deceased), Christopher (deceased), Brittany, Alexis and Danielle; siblings, Pat Fox (Bill), Kay Pate (Jane), Sue Durrant (Lynn), Julie Blaney (Mel); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
