Sharon Jane Barto, aged 73, of Parsonsburg, MD went home to be with the Lord on, Saturday April 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is now in the hands of our Father. Sharon was born November 16, 1949 in Salisbury, MD and was the daughter of the late James Hammond and Virginia Armstrong. Sharon was raised in Seaford, DE and attended Seaford Senior High class of 1967 and went on to attend Salisbury State College. She moved to Salisbury, MD in 1972 where she would raise her 4 beautiful children.
Sharon’s love for her family was immensely abundant. She spent most of her time with her children and grandchildren who always came first. She could often be found at her children and grandchildren’s sports and school functions, at home having family get togethers around her pool, going out to dinner or traveling to GA to see her other daughter and grandchildren. Quality time with her family was her love language.
She also enjoyed traveling, going to rock concerts and the beach, and most importantly her annual visits to St Maarten in the Caribbean. Her favorite sayings were “It’s all Good” and “I will sleep when I die” These speak to her endless dedication to making each and every child and grandchild feel special and unconditionally loved.
Sharon worked as Comptroller for Rental Management for 49 years and often called that her 2nd home.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and faith was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her four children, Suzanne Overton-O'Hara (Stephanie), Michael Overton, Lisa Larson (Tom), and Tony Overton (Tallie). She had 9 grandchildren Alec, Olivia, Ellis, Elena, Ben, Josh, Jayden, Kailey and Lukas and 3 great-grandchildren, Beckett, Finn & Jackson. Her beloved sister, Charlotte Cropper, two stepsons Jason and Jonathon Barto, five step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mike Barto, her sister Betty Smith and her brother Bill Armstrong.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 11am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, MD. Burial will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron off Rt. 50. A Life Celebration will be held Wednesday April 12 from 6pm to 8pm at Bounds Funeral Home on 705 East Main St. in Salisbury with prayer at 7:30pm. Friends may also visit from 10-11 prior to the Mass on April 13. All friends and family are invited to attend.
