Mrs. Ruth M Ballard Hedges

Ruth Marie Ballard Hedges, 74, of Salisbury died Friday, May 02, 2014 at her home. Born September 6, 1939 in Pocomoke City, and was the daughter of the late Oren and Mary Bell Brittingham Ballard. She was preceded in death in 2002 by her husband, Lawrence L. Hedges of 45 years; two sisters, Annabel Hudson in 1988 and Ruby Smullen in 1989.

Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Salisbury. Formal member of Parsonsburg Ruritan Club and Red Hat Society; former Girl Scout Leader in the 1960’s.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Schaefer and her husband David of Harrington, DE and Teresa Wilkins and her husband Rick of Willards; three grandchildren, Jennifer Littleton, J.W. Littleton, and Kristie Wilkins; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Brian Moss, Pastor Gordon Nock, and John Russ will officiate. Interment will be private in Wicomico Memorial Park.
