Growing up, Bob was a Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout. He served in the United States Air Force stationed at Sparrevohn Air Force Base in Alaska where he was a refrigeration specialist during the Cold War. After returning home from the service while working for ET Travis he attended Centreville Community College and received his degree in Refrigeration and HVAC. He was the maintenance supervisor at Buddy Boy Chicken in Nanticoke, General Manager at Roche and Hall in Salisbury, building supervisor at Denton Multi Service Center, Maintenance Supervisor at Holly Center and most recently building Supervisor at Paul Martin Multi Service Center where he retired from in 2000. He enjoyed dancing bowling, boating, fishing, crabbing, and golf. He was a member of New Creation Ministries in Fruitland.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Adelia “Dee” Anne Marvel; daughter, Jennifer Anne Hurdle and her husband Chris; granddaughter, Caylin Pickard and her husband Jack; great-granddaughter, Addison Lola Pickard all of Washington state; sister, Audrey Brittingham and her husband Mike of Salisbury; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Marvel of Florida; sister-in-law, Elvira Cedars of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Marvel.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
