Richard Edward Parsons, 94, of Salisbury passed away peacefully Monday, July 22, 2024 at John B. Parsons Home with family around. He was the only child of the late Noble Welton and Myrtle Ethel Pruitt Parsons.
Richard graduated from Wicomico High School and served in the United States Army from 1952-1954, leaving to take care of his sick mother until her death. He then went to work with Bill Givens at Miller Beer as a truck driver; later working at ES Adkins, Homestead Dairy, and then his favorite job as a US Postal Worker for 25 years, mostly at the downtown Salisbury Office. After his retirement on January 1, 1992 he became a daily walker at the Salisbury Mall/ Center; walking up to 10 miles per day. He was part of the McDonalds Breakfast Club and had lunch at Target and made many friends along the way.
Richard attended St. Andrews Methodist Church.
Although he had no children of his own, to the family he was Uncle Richard, who always had your back.
Special thanks to his caregivers over the last 4 years. Also Chris and Cara Rozaieski; special cousins, Janie Rhoat and husband John; sons, Jackson and Samuel Rhoat and Sarah Whitelock. Richard will be missed by everyone.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 12pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Richard to the Wicomico County Humane Society, 5130 Citation Dr., Salisbury, MD 21804.
