She was born on March 9th, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Emerson Hughes & Grace Willey Hughes. She retired from Peninsula Regional Medical Center in 1999 after 26 years of service as a nursing assistant. Nancy loved working and taking care of her patients.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Kelly. She is survived by two children Shirley Magana (Jim) of Glen Mills, PA and Tammy Phippin Linton (Charlie) of Salisbury MD. Her son James Clark Phippin, Sr preceded her in death. She has 3 grandsons, Thomas Phippin (Lori) of Seaford, DE, James Clark Phippin, Jr. (Renee) of Laurel, DE and Joshua Linton of Salisbury, MD. One granddaughter Heavenly Phippin preceded her in death. She has seven great grandchildren Justin, Meghan and Alyssa Worster, Bethany Watson, Jacob, Chase, and Sarah Phippin.
Survived by her sister Shirley Marine of Salisbury and two brothers Norman Hughes (Carol) of Salisbury and Leroy Hughes of Hurlock. One brother Charles Hughes and two sisters Louise Thomas and Virginia Rathel preceded her in death.
Nancy loved life. She was always happy, smiling and willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family especially all her grandchildren. She was a diehard Orioles fan and loved to visit the shores of Crisfield and sit on the docks by the water. She loved flowers and gardening. She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain. She had a deep compassion for others and put others’ needs over herself.
There will be a one hour visitation at 11 am on February 27th with the service starting at 12 pm at Oak Ridge Church in Salisbury, MD. A graveside service will be held immediately following the service at Wicomico Memorial Park. Donations may be given in her name to Coastal Hospice or the Wicomico County Humane Society.
